Turkey Tip Contest Winner: Javin Mullet
Ohio turkey hunter Javin Mullet may be showing off a big bow-killed longbeard in his profile pic, but his tip is straightforward and very useful for anyone toting a shotgun to the spring woods. Javin will be receiving a new pair of Bow Ranger Gloves from Manzellla for his winning tip. Be sure to submit your own tip for a shot at next week’s prize, a $25 gift card to the Winchester Online Store. Check out Javin's tip below!
If you're a right-handed gun hunter, set up with your left shoulder pointed toward the spot where you think the turkey will come from. That way you can easily swing your gun left or right if a wary old tom sends you a curveball. If you're left-handed, it’s just the opposite; sit with your right shoulder pointed toward the gobbler.
Many people also make a big mistake of freezing up as soon as they hear a gobbler closing the distance. If he’s still a ways off and he can’t see you, go ahead and make a quick move if you need to! Just make sure when he crests that hill and works his way into view, you have your gun to your shoulder and pointed in the right direction.
