I shot this coyote on the last day of this year's spring turkey season with my first personally owned gun, my Remington 870 12 gauge! I hunted hard this spring in hopes of getting my first gobbler with my new gun. After many close encounters and heart pounding moments, my father-in-law and I headed out for the last hunt of the season. We were setup waiting for light and I whispered to my father-in-law, "Boy, it would be really cool to shoot a coyote". He smiled and said, "Yes, that would be cool". About ten minutes later, daylight broke and with that, some deer jumped from their bed and took off running in front of us. I remembered looking at my father-in-law and he new exactly what I was thinking. Then about five minute after that, he quickly tapped me and said, "Get your gun ready". I looked to my left and there, coming towards us, was this coyote. I aimed, shot, and dropped the coyote at 8 yards! What an amazing feeling and a great way to end this spring's turkey season. Thanks Realtree he never saw me!
