Real quick question. And please don’t hold back, tell us what you really think. What about a show or more spots on shows where folks would just let their hair down and shoot some does (a.k.a slickheads)? What I mean is show the celebration about how we all love to shoot does and how every person who hunts can relate to shooting does. Nothing will ever take the place of big bucks, but we can always be satisfied with busting does.

Absolutley, let's see 'um! I believe it is needed to help with the convincing of some hunters that are resisting QDMA & other deer managing tactics. If you turn on any hunting program they are showing the killing of trophy bucks & only mention that you have to harvest does to get to this point. Start showing the harvesting of does & explain why it is SO IMPORTANT!

Bring 'em on! I think it is important & the responsible thing to do. All the shows & videos focus on trophy bucks (of course that is what peole want to see), but the harvesting of does is a vital part of getting to that point of having trophy deer. Along with allowing the young deer grow up. I believe it would help influence other hunters to shoot does if they were seeing the "celebrity" hunters doing it & making it "cool".
thanks,

I BELIEVE THAT ALL DEER SHOULD BE CREATED EQUAL. SLICKHEAD OR BIG OLE MOSSY HORN, I WOULD RATHER SHOOT A DOE THAN A SPIKE OR A LITTLE BASKET RACK. THEY ALL EAT THE SAME TO ME, RIGHT NEXT TO THE MASHED TATERS AND GRAVY.
I BELIEVE THAT ALL DEER ARE CREATED EQUAL. SLICKHEAD OR OLE MOSSY RACK. I WOULD RATHER SHOOT A DOE THAN A SPIKE OR A LITTLE BASKET RACK. THEY ALL GO GOOD TOGETHER WITH MASHED TATERS AND GRAVY.
Well it's about time.I think the younger folks are getting the idea that the only one's you are supposed to kill are great old big bucks. That's what all hunting programs are showing.Need to express that you need to keep the buck to doe ratio in check.I still have'nt been able to eat the antlers yet.
GREAT IDEA. SHOW THEM HAVEING TO WAIT ON THAT OLD WHITE FACED DOE SENDING ALL THE YOUNG DOES AND FAWNS IN FIRST THEN HANGING JUST OUT OF RANGE. I HUNT THE "BURBS" AND YOU SEE A LOT OF SMALL YOUNG BUCKS AND A BUNCH OF DOES. I FILL MY FREEZER EVERY YEAR WITH DOE, AND IF YOUR SELECTIVE, I AIN'T EASY
T-Bone,
That is a great idea. It is exciting shooting either a buck or a slickhead but so many people like seeing a buck taken. I don't care as long as it is huntin' who gives a rats behind.
God Bless & Good Huntin'

P.S. hope the season is going good for you and the Realtree gang.
T-Bone,
I love the idea of having a show that the "average man" can relate to. Does taste just as good if not better than bucks. Don't get me wrong I love to shoot bucks but I'm not that lucky.

Hey T-bone, I just love hunting all around so ill watch anything. Im not gonna lie i love seeing those big bucks shot but ill watch anything that has to do with hunting especially bow hunting. Bring um all on. P.S. thanks for the bohning website for those arrow fletching tips.
Love shooting does all season with a bow. I think it's good to show doe hunts mixed with buck hunts.
Came by Sat 8/8 and missed you.
Hope you had a good time in Michigan. See ya, Dilbeck
T-Bone,
All I know is that at dinner time you cannot tell if the deer meat you are eating at one time had horns on it or not. In my opinion, if it is doe season, SHOOT DOES!! The satisfaction is just the same, especially with a bow because I believe that a mature doe is just as hard to hunt as a mature doe.

I live in Michigan where the does outnumber the bucks 20 to 1 and I wish more people would start shooting more does. That being said when im watching A video that I have seen before and I know they are going to shoot a doe, honestly I skip to the next big buck. I personally shoot a couple does a season but when im watching a video I want to seee horns. sorry but thats the truth for me.
Scott
i think you all should start a new video series called monster does
I like to shoot bucks as much as anyone but I am a meat hunter and fill all my doe tags so would love to see more of hunting does!!!!
As a member of Team Slickhead, you know my opinion:shooting does is an integral part of deer hunting! I wish I had a video of me yesterday, sweat collecting in my rubber boots, 90 degrees in South GA, surrounded by does, all staring at me so I couldn't come to full draw! No, they all stayed behind bushes and never gave me a clear shot! Pretty smart. However, today is another day...

I have noticed the last several years that all of the young boys in our club seem to think there is something undesirable about shooting anything but a moster buck. I think a lot of this is unintentional from the hunting shows that we all love.
I think it would be great to mix in some doe kills on all of the shows. I have seen over the years that if you hunt your does hard, they become just as wary as a buck.
I have also wondered if all of the hunting shows would shoot a doe now and then, and make a big deal about one thing (like the distance between the ears, or how long it was from the eye to the nose) that within a few years, you would hear people talking about that wide-headed or long-nosed doe they saw.
I think showing doe hunts would be great. Doe hunting can be as tough as hunting big bucks. The place where i hunt, i have been hunting a big doe for two years now and she justs avoids me enough to survive another season. I have had a few friends that have actually shot at her and missed so we nick named her lucky. Good stories like this would make great shows if it was a buck or a doe.
I am an equal opportunity hunter. Does get the same consideration as the bucks. Meat in the freezer. I have harvested over 130 deer in my life and about half of them have been does.
I agree with the thread that we need to teach the younger hunters to harvest does as a sound management practice.
And another thing to consider is that alot of hunters never get a crack at "Monster Bucks".But every Hunter has a shot at "Monster Does"!!
Thanks for bringing this topic up.

T-Bone, first time blogger, long time fan. Bring on the doe shots. Can't eat the bones anyway. Hope to have a wall hanger this year, but I shoot the meat first. Gotta have the dinner. Keep them video's coming and enjoy your time in our great Texas. Later, Bear.
bring on the slickheads
-Bro. Dave
If you ask me a backstrap is a backstrap. In the part of Kansas that I hunt we get 5 antlerless tags to fill along with the buck tag and every year I fill my freezer along with some friends' and no matter how big the buck he's not going to fill it so bring on the slickhead slaughters. I'll be at full draw on a doe come October 1st because you gotta have some backstraps and some good ole "slickhead chili" to get the season started off right!
I agree, there needs to be more hunters educated about harvesting does for the benefit of the herd. I have heard numerous hunters that believe that they are hurting the herd, by harvesting does, which could not be further from the truth. Me,Rusty,Keith, and Banjo, do our share of helping the herd by filling our freezers with delicious does each season.
Keep up the great work T-bone,were your biggest fans, down here in Texas.

TBONE THE REASON I LIKE WATCHING YOU SO MUCH IS YOU SHOW YOUR LOVE FOR HUNTING.IT SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT KILLING A RECORD BOOK BUCK EVERY YEAR.I LIVE IN WILD AND WONDERFUL WEST VIRGINIA AND LOVE DEER HUNTING.I DO NOT CARE IF ITS A SLICKHEAD OR A BUCK,I LOVE THE EXPERIENCE OF JUST BEING IN THE WOODS.I HAVE BEEN HUNTING 30 YEARS AND I CAN REMEMBER THE FIRST DEER I KILLED,A SLICKHEAD,IT BRINGS BACK JUST AS GOOD OF MEMORIES AS ANY BUCK I HAVE KILLED.IF THE HUNTING INDUSTRY DOES NOT GET MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU ON TV REACHING OUT TO YOUNG HUNTERS LETTING THEM KNOW ITS OK TO KILL A DOE THIS GREAT SPORT AS WE KNOW IT WILL END UP BEING FOR THE RICH FOLKS THAT CAN AFFORD TO SPEND 5000.00 OR MORE TO GO TO A RANCH AND KILL A POPE AND YOUNG OR BOONE AND CROCKETT BUCK.REALTREE SHOULD BACK YOU DOING YOUR OWN VIDEO SERIES WACKING SLICKHEADS AND SHOWING THE PURE JOY OF THE HUNTING EXPERIENCE.
THANK YOU RON GODWIN WEST VIRGINIA
Does are where its at.My first deer was a doe. People that wont shoot them are making a mistake. Yes big bucks are fun but does must be taken to keep numbers in balance and besides that they are great for yougans out in the field as well as the eatin. mm mm good
great idea, ...... people need to realize the value of true herd management. We see and hear alot about food plots as a management tool, but doe harvest is just as big if not bigger a management tool than food plots......
I LIVE IN SOUTH TEXAS WERE THE BUCKS ARE A PLENTY BUT WE LOVE TO SHOOT THE CHROME-DOMES, IT FILLS THE FREEZER SO LETS SEE MORE OF THE DOE HUNTS AND LOVE TO SEE THE HOG HUNTS ALSO, GLAD TO SEE BLAKE SHELTON HAVE SO MUCH ENJOYMENT IN RUNNING AN ARROW IN A PIG. SHOW MORE DOE AND PIG HUNTS. MIKE IS GOOD AT CALLING TURKEYS GET HIM TO START CALLING PIGS, THAT WOULD MAKE A GOOD SHOW
Kill-em, its good management and they taste better than a buck any day! Heck if its beneath you boys invite me down I'll shoot em and y'all can film that!!
I'd love to see it. Slickheads are better eating anyway. In the first few seasons of Roadtrips, Michael used to show bits of the cookout and feast. Hasn't done much of that recently. I believe this was one of the reasons that Roadtrips started off so good. Maybe show some tenders on the grill!
I love to kill big bucks but the ol flop ears are just as challenging and rewarding... I think it would be good for all hunters to see that yall take the same precautions (camo, winddirection, and coversents)as you do when hunting big bucks.
definitely!! It just shows you like to have fun out there..hunting isn't just about the big trophies. You have to hunt to kill does too!!
Got one down.Chichenfried backstraps and gravy that same night. Does better look out I got lots of hungry rugrats at my house and they all love deer meat.
a kill, is a kill. We need to teach, the younger ones coming up there is nothing wrong with killing a slick head. My first deer was a slick head, at the age of 19.I am now 51, still killing those does. Love the back strap rolled in mustard, then flour and fry it. It is ok, to show more misses also. We all have several, not every shot is a kill. Love your show keep putting their head where their heels were.
