The Not-So-Sister Biscuit

The Whisker Biscuit has become very popular in the last few years. It certainly has its place. For beginning archers and young hunters, I recommend the whisker biscuit because of its ease of use and dependability. There are just a few disadvantages to the whisker biscuit: I recommend only shooting vanes with it. Because of the friction it is extremely rough on feather fletchings. If you hunt in the northern states from time to time and there is high moisture with low temperatures, then the rest is apt to freeze, thus affecting arrow flight. However, as a whole, I like the whisker biscuit.

Travis

    Hey T-Bone,

Im originally from upstate NY and have had friends try the whisker buscuit before and put it through its paces. One friend froze it in his freezer for three days then shot it as well as heat it up to 110 degrees in his oven. He claims it still held consistant. I started with one on my Bowtech and found it very noisey with Blazer vanes i believe from the thickness of them. Regular dura vanes helped quite a bit. Now i shoot a QAD and love it. Plus i can switch vanes if i want to now. They do work though and lots of people like shooting them.

    Hey T-Bone,
I have a Whisker Biscuit on my bow and I love it. It keeps the arrow from falling off of my bow, but the only problem is that it rips the vanes. I don't know why it does that, do you have any clue?? Talk to ya later.

The whisker bisquit is very popular with a lot of hunters up in this area. I have installed quite a few over the last couple of years. I have found that most hunters went to it because the scare of the arrow coming off their TM style rest. So instead of checking how bad they were pinching the nock or checking their nock travel, or their current rest and alignment and tension, they opted to go with the fail safe bisquit. It is very low maintenance and very easy to install and get aligned.

Although you will never see one on my bow, it is a good rest for beginning hunters, or spot and stalk hunters that have a high probability of bumping the arrow while walking around the brush. I come from the school that total fletching clearance is key to shooting tight groups. This rest does not offer that. I would not recommend it for target shooters. Tree stand hunters planning on shots lees than 30 this should be a good rest.

I think the main reason people use them is because it is cheap, and it will work. But there are a lot of rests out there that will do the same as the WB that are a lot better. If your looking for a rest that will capture the arrow a Q.A.D. will do the same and it is a much better rest. but the Q.A.D. ultra is like 120$ and some people will never pay that much for a rest. you can definitely kill deer with the buisquit, but there are more efficient ways to do so. it is also noisey if you have a camo arrow or buff tuff.
