Before we get back into the archery tips, I'd like to pick your brain on how you prepare for hunting season, both mentally and physically. So, if you will, post a comment on your shooting schedule and the routine you try and go through to prepare for fall. Also, do you watch any DVDs or TV shows to get you in the groove?
Look forward to reading the comments.

Over the summer I try to shoot once a week at least. I shoot at all distances from 15-40 yards. I shoot Technohunt a few times as well. And of course I watch a vew Monster Bucks DVD's just to wet my appetite.
Its June and I'll began to shoot a couple or three times a week. At 40 and 50 yards till I get tired and my groups start going crazy. I have found that pratice at long ranges for endurance really pays off on your ability to hold for a shot and make it count when the time comes. I live in the thick woods of S.W. Va. where most shots are taken at 20 to 25 yards. After shooting all summer at long distance a 20 yarder is a chip shot. I also shoot the last 2 or 3 3D tournaments in the area in Aug. and Sept. for some realistic practice. As far as shows go I really get fired up by the Vatoville episode of roadtrips. I can't wait for the new one this year. How many doe you wack this year?
I work the 3rd shift. I get back to the barn around 8:00 a.m.. Then I shoot for one hour. I work on form the first half hour and then shoot 20 and 30s the next half hour. I try to make at least 1 3-d shoot on the weekend. I do a little softball over the summer to help knock off some winter weight. As far as videos it is the annual monsterbucks, Roadtrips, and the moose channel. I also love squirrel season. It gives me a chance to work on my mowheak'n / Sneak'n.

T-Bone,
Our local Fish and Game club has
3-D shoots once a month for the entire year, only $10. I try to hit those and shoot twice a week in between. Of course, my DVR is always taping the outdoor channel.

T-bone, I will be shooting at least three time a week. My buddies and I will shott one to two days on the ground at targets from 10 -70yrds. The other day we place three to five targets out and get up in the trees and shot 3D targets at different hights and quartered shots. we will close up the summer by going to a few 3D shoots. When it comes to videos anything with you and Waddell in it will get you amped real quick.
Hey T-Bone,
I have to travel alot and most times dont have the ability to shoot longer ranges but i do work on my release technique and sequence in my apartment with my block target. I try to shoot about 30 arrows a day and about five times a week. When i get a chance to shoot outdoors ill shoot til my arms want to fall off. I hold for different lengths of time at different yardages. I work as a physical therapist assistant so i get to work out everyday with my patients. I try to keep upper body and core strength as strong as possible. I hate cardio but put a little into my workout for draggin needs. I hit the gym 4-5 days a week. I am a DVD junky too from the MB series to my new addiction with anything the Drury boys put out.

Hey T-Bone,
I try to start shooting my bow during the summer months (June, July & August). Then during September I start shooting my rifle and during the summer I start looking for sign. I watch DVD's and TV shows all the time no matter what time of the year it is. During the summer I watch Monster Bucks and Realtree Road Trips DVD's all the time and it gets me pumped up and ready to go hunting. Look forward to read more bow tips. Talk to ya later.
God Bless & Good Huntin'

P.S. It's pretty bad that we are already talking about deer season, I can't wait. :)

I shoot at least 2 days a week in my basement practicing form. I shoot at the club at least 1 day a week( out to 70). I will also hit the 3-d tour when i can. in 1 week I'm traveling to shoot the R100.

For me, archery season is literally a year round activity. I worked as a tech for Gander Mountain through college and had access to the range on a daily basis because of that. Besides GM, I shoot indoors throughout the winter months at local clubs, though i am limited to 30 yards for the most part indoors. Summer is all about practicing at longer ranges (out to 120), fine tuning for broadhead flight and hanging stands/trail cams. Theres no time of year that i'm not watching MB DVDs or monkeying on AT. Just talking about it gets me pumped for September!
I love to bow hunt. I never stop shooting my bow. Shoot at least 3 times a week (3D, Indoor 3D, TechnoHunt, etc). At my house, I have a range (tree stand and Ground blind) with multiple targets and distances. I shoot 3 arrows at a time (20, then 30, then 40, then 50, then 60) then I come back from 60 shooting 3 arrows at a time back to 20. I get a lot of walking in as you can imagine. After all that, I go in and annoy the wife with watching all the Monster Bucks videos I own as well as a few shows from Roadtrips.
132 days till WV Bow Season!!!
As far as shooting goes, I shoot on an indoor league in the winter and when it is nice enough, we set up our range at my buddys. he has like 15 acres with 25 3d targets that we set up in the woods. all kinds of people come shoot it for free during the summer im out there about 5 or 6 times a week. That helps a lot, with comp 3d shoots. Scott Withers-MI
