Summertime Shooting

Man, I checked The Weather Channel this morning to find that it was going to hit 95 today! And it's just June. That being said, it looks like it's going to be a hot, long summer to be shooting.

So, will the hot weather affect your shooting schedule? What about anyone shooting on a 3D tour?

Thanks for all the great comments about what you do to prepare. Look forward to seeing your comments on this section.

Hey T bone first of all thanks for the help with the bow question I had. Well with the hot weather here.I gennerally will shoot 4 to 5 days a week . I will shoot the last hour to hour of daylight.Plus this helps my wife so she dont get to hot .This is her first year bowhunting.

Well, I'm wondering if the hot weather will ever get here! We had a couple days in the mid 90s back in April - then we haven't gotten over 80 I don't think since. Been a rainy cold spring for the most part!

I imagine the heat will get here, though...and the sooner the better, I love it! So, no it won't effect the way or how much I shoot (which isn't enough to begin with. I'll work on that.)

    Hey T-Bone,
Yeah, looks like the GA summer this year is going to be really hot. So I will probably shoot about a hour before dark so it is not as hot. Talk to ya later.

P.S. My family and I just found out yesterday that our property that we lease is going to be clear cutted in the next couple of weeks and they are going to cut all the hardwoods, so this bow season is going to be touch. Thought I let you know.

Keep shooting. Break out the bug spray. The more I can shoot in a stressed enviroment the more I think I will be prepared for a high stressed scenario in the try stand. We all know we hunt in all kind of conditions. We might as well practice in those situations. Just because it is raining, blowing, blazing hot, sleeting, humid, or anything else doesn't mean you should hold off practice. If you hunt in it, shoot in it. Be mindful of the conditions and learn your capabilities. This makes you a more ethical and accurate hunter.

The heat can really beat you down when trying to shoot durring the summer months. We all can't have the basement indoor range like you T-Bone. I look at it as this: yeah it's hot and nasty but come fall it always pays off. So i am willing to suffer durring the summer to enjoy my fall. By the way thank you T-Bone for all of your help and advice you offer. It is really nice to have someone of your calliber helping out the common man.
