A lighter can be your best friend if you do not have extra Fiber Optic. Even if the fiber is broken and not able to fit back into its original fixture, you can get creative and shorten the fiber and mushroom it at both ends of the holder. You will have to sacrifice some brightness, but you will have a pin to finish the hunt. Once you get back to the Archery Shop, you can replace the complete fiber optic.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when you are in the back country, or deer camp. Fiber optic gather light, and amplifies it at the tip you use for your pin. The more fiber you have the more light it is able to grab. But even a small piece can gather enough light to get you through your situation. So before you start on your temporary fix, make sure the piece you are using is going to gather enough light for you and your situation.
