To check one’s draw length at home, stand perpendicular to a wall and place your palm against the wall without stretching. Stare at the wall and measure from the wall to the corner of your mouth without moving your head. Then add one inch to that measurement. This should be very close to your draw length. To determine the appropriate draw weight for hunting, sit in a chair with your thighs parallel to the ground. Then, lift both your feet slightly off the ground while pulling the bow back. Whatever weight you can pull comfortably would be a good recommended bow weight.
These are ways you can check on your own, but I strongly recommend visiting a reputable pro shop in your area to be outfitted and measured properly.

Let’s compare carbon arrows to aluminum arrows: The positive points about carbon arrows are they are extremely strong and durable, and the smaller diameter lets them penetrate better. The process in which carbon arrows are made allow them to be stronger but yet lighter which increases arrow speed significantly. In contrast, aluminum arrows are very forgiving and initially are cheaper. They are more consistent in drastic temperature changes also. One of the great things about a blog is interaction between us all and I enjoy being able to ask everyone’s opinion and views on things. With that said , we are going to be doing lots of bow and archery tips coming up soon and I have a purdy good list of topics, but I would love ya’lls input on topics ya’ll would like covered concerning bow and archery. Anything from shooting form, bow maintenance or tech tips...anything involving archery. Or even if it is a certain topic you may want explained a little deeper. I look forward to hearing everyone’s response.

Man, I checked The Weather Channel this morning to find that it was going to hit 95 today! And it's just June. That being said, it looks like it's going to be a hot, long summer to be shooting.
So, will the hot weather affect your shooting schedule? What about anyone shooting on a 3D tour?
Thanks for all the great comments about what you do to prepare. Look forward to seeing your comments on this section.

Before we get back into the archery tips, I'd like to pick your brain on how you prepare for hunting season, both mentally and physically. So, if you will, post a comment on your shooting schedule and the routine you try and go through to prepare for fall. Also, do you watch any DVDs or TV shows to get you in the groove?
Look forward to reading the comments.
