The 2022 lineup of new hunting bows is now available nationwide, and there are models to suit every shooting style and preference. Although it’s difficult to really compare bows without shooting them all side-by-side, you can at least learn a lot by researching specs and features ahead of time. If you’re in need of a new bow before season, consider a visit to your local dealer, and ask to shoot one of these 11 new compound hunting bows. You’ll find something that you like, we just about guarantee it.
Hoyt Carbon RX-7
Hoyt Carbon RX-7
Hoyt’s Carbon RX-7 is the newest addition to Hoyt’s legendary carbon lineup, with technological advancements that breathe new life into the series. The HBX Pro Cams are quiet while still generating excellent accuracy, speed, and kinetic energy. The Carbon RX-7 also includes two Shock Pod locations that help reduce vibration and noise, an in-line picatinny sight rail, integrated rest mount, and optimized quiver mount location. It even has a new grip angle, which decreases negative input from your palm. This is a 30-inch axle-to-axle bow with a 6.25-inch brace height that shoots 343 fps (ATA). It weighs 3.9 pounds. It’s also offered in the longer Carbon RX-7 Ultra, which is 34 inches axle-to-axle, with a 7-inch brace height, 334 IBO rating, and 4.3-pound mass weight.

Hoyt’s new Highline is a great new option for long-draw archers. It has a 345 fps ATA speed rating despite a long 7.875-inch brace height. The Highline is 36.5 inches axle to axle with adjustable draw lengths of 39 to 34 inches. It weighs 4.9 pounds, and has peak draw weight options of 50 to 70 pounds. This is a bow made for large-framed hunters, and it will meet or exceed expectations.

Mathews V3X 29
Mathews fans will love the new V3X 29, which clocks in at 340 fps IBO and is a smooth, quiet, accurate shooter. It’s 29 inches axle to axle with a 6-inch brace height, and it weighs 4.47 pounds. It has an adjustable draw length with ranges of 25.5 to 30 inches, and peak weights of 60, 65, 70, and 75 pounds. Hunting features include a riser that’s dovetailed for both a sight and rest, new quiver system, and the Stay Afield System that allows hunters to safely remove or repair strings and cables in the field without using a bow press. All that’s needed is a small, lightweight emergency repair kit.

Bear has a storied heritage and long line of proven hunting bows. Those who shoot Bear know their compounds are durable and dependable. The new Refine EKO is fast, too, at 342 fps. This model is 33 inches axle to axle, weighs 4.4 pounds, and has a 6.375-inch brace height. Draw length ranges from 26.5-30.5 inches and draw weight options range include 45-60 or 55-70 pounds. This model also offers increased let-off adjustability at 75, 80, 85, or 90%. Bear also went to lengths to reduce vibration in their bows, and the effort shows in this model. Overall, it’s a great-shooting hunting bow at a pretty good price.

Long-time Elite shooters revere the bows for their smooth draw cycle. The new Envision is certainly smooth, while also clocking in at 334 fps (IBO). It is 31 inches axle to axle and has a 6.875-inch brace height. The bow has a draw length range of 23.5 to 30.5 inches and peak draw weight range of 40 to 75 pounds. This bow also features the SET tuning system. It is made for micro adjustments, and even the draw length can be adjusted in quarter-inch increments. That’s something other bows don’t have. Other areas of the bow are adjustable, too, including the let off.

The new 2022 Terrain by Elite was designed to offer a serious bowhunting package at an unbeatable price. The Terrain has compact dimensions at 3.9 pounds and 32.5 inches axle to axle, along with a comfortable, easy-to-shoot draw cycle. It has a 7-inch brace height, and the hybrid cam system is adjustable for draw length (25.5 to 31.5 inches) with a rotating mod system. The Terrain has a speed rating of 325 fps IBO. with a solid back wall, up to 85% let-off, and 325 fps IBO speed. Terrain includes Elite’s milled-aluminum Riser Cage, which is renowned for stability and excellent balance in the hand. It has a slim Precision Grip for comfortable positing. Decreased noise is provided through VibeX Blocks limb dampeners and an integrated string stop. Winner’s Choice string and cables are included, and the bow is backed by a Lifetime Warranty with Hunt Guarantee. Draw-weight options include 45-60- and 55-70-pounds.

The Revolt XL has a 6.625-inch brace height, 33-inch axle-to-axle length, and weighs 4.5 pounds. It features the DeadLock Cam System, effectively boosting adjustability and performance. It’s a smooth shooter, too.

The Bowtech SR350 should suit the speed demons out there, with a blistering 350 fps IBO rating. The 33-inch SR350 has a draw length range of 25 to 30 inches, peak draw weights of 50, 60, or 70 pounds, and a 6-inch brace height. It weighs 4.4 pounds. Despite the speed, the SR350 doesn’t sacrifice much, with a smooth draw cycle and minimal vibration.

Prime’s new Inline 5 has a 342-fps IBO rating, which is quick by the going standard. The Inline series is offered in multiple axle-to-axle lengths and brace heights, with the Inline 5 version hitting the sweet middle ground of 35 inches with a 6-inch brace height. It weighs 4.5 pounds and is available in a wide range of peak draw weights, too. However, even cooler is the cam system that improves balance and ensures an equal load on the bow throughout the draw cycle.

The PSE EVO EVL 32 is another solid shooter that’s stable, dead in the hand, and extremely tunable. It has the widest limb system of any PSE model to date, measures 32 inches axle to axle, has a 6.25-inch brace height, and weighs 4.5 pounds. The EVO EVL shoots 345 fps (ATA), has 80 to 90% let-off, a 25-30.5-inch draw length range, and peak draw weights of 50, 60, 65, 70, or 80 pounds. This bow is also offered in the slightly longer EVO EVL 34 package, which has a slightly longer brace height, draw length range of up to 31.5 inches, and is a touch heavier.

The new MX-32 by Xpedition Archery compiles great features from previous models and meshes those with new benefits. The high point with this bow is the LVR 2.0 Cam, which has three individual rotating modules that accommodate various draw lengths (26.5-31 inches). It also includes a very stable limb platform for increased accuracy. And don’t forget the forgiveness, thanks to a 6.5-inch brace height and 32.5-inch axle-to-axle length. Drilling down on specs, it shoots 346-348 fps (IBO), has 80% let-off, and sports 40-, 50-, 60-, 65-, or 70-pound peak draw weights. The bow weighs 4.4 pounds.
