Do You Hunt in Any of These States?
Most states offer really good deer hunting these days. However, some are better than others. Not all are equal in stature. Those who hunt in certain states have large advantages over those who hunt in other areas of the country.
It’s important to understand that within these states, actual whitetail populations will be different. Areas with good habitat that offer needs of whitetails in abundance will boast higher numbers. Those that don’t could be even lower than the averages shown below. It’s also important to know certain areas will have concentrations of deer.
With that, let’s take a brief look at the 10 states with the worst deer populations (per square mile) in the country. For full disclosure, it’s important to note many of these western states have heavy concentrations of deer in certain areas and hardly any deer in other areas of those states where the habitat is poor. Because of that, it puts them at a disadvantage during the calculation process when compared to midwestern and eastern states with deer inhabiting virtually every corner of their respective borders.
