The Official Winners of the Deer Taxidermy Contest

I’ve been going to the NWTF Convention for a very long time. If you’ve never been, it’s a thing to see at least once in your life. And I recommend making it an annual event. It never gets old.

One of my favorite parts of the show each year are the taxidermy contests. Some of the best in the business gather together and compete in this annual deal. I’ll be honest, each year, I walk away baffled by the incredible skill and talent that these guys and gals put into their work each year.

Youth Category Winner

Landon Witt mounted this beauty and took home the blue ribbon in the youth category. That’s without a doubt some fine work.

Cody Hodge sure doesn’t look like much of an amateur. He killed it with this beautiful piece of taxidermy work.

Jason Lamb won 1st place in the commercial category with this dandy 8-pointer. That’s truly a great representation of the trade.

Jordon Holsombach won 2nd place in the commercial division with this great mount. The realism is incredible. You have to love the way those ears pin back as the buck looks over its shoulder.

Jason Lamb not only took home 1st place in the commercial category but also won “Best Open Mouth” in the professional division, too. What a great looking mount.

This is an exceptional mount by Terry Driver. Sure, the rack is impressive, but so is the entire mount.

Dean Matthews took home the gold for “Best Open Mouth” in the masters category. That little touch of clover hanging out of the buck’s mouth added quite the touch.

Butch Irwin won “Best Closed Mouth” with this great mount. The added snow and scenery pushed this one over the top, for sure.

This particular mount won two awards. Jason Lamb didn’t just win “Best Open Mouth” with this one. He also won “Best in Show” for the professional division, too. He really “racked up” this year, eh?
