Chip Marden Goes Deer Hunting on the Milk River in Montana
We often look at our lives and see all of the bad. Seldom do we stop, take a breath, and thank God for all of our blessings. Not only that but as a human race we also take life for granted. We get stuck in the day-to-day routine we fall into and everything else flies right by. We don’t pause to take in everything going on around us.
That’s often when the unthinkable happens.
Chip Marden is a young boy just like any other. He loves to play sports, spend time with family and friends, and to go deer hunting. Then, one day, he received the news that he had brain cancer. His world changed.
He had ups and downs, worked through some very troubling times, and finally came out on top to beat cancer. Yes, Chip is a cancer survivor. And I think we can attribute that to three things: the good Lord, a team of family and doctors who helped pull him through, and David Blanton. You see, when David met young Mr. Marden, he promised Chip a deer hunt on the Milk River in Montana once he got better. Well, get better he did. And as everyone expected, David made good on his promise. Chip, his dad, and David all packed up and headed to Montana.
As you can see in the video above, Chip went on the hunt of a lifetime and fulfilled a lifelong dream. He hunted with David Blanton. And he got his Milk River buck. But most importantly, he’s getting his life back. And we’re all thankful for that.
God is good. Deer hunting is good. And the Realtree family is vast. Welcome to the fold Chip. We hope you make many more memories like this one.
Whitetails make the hunting world go round. Josh Honeycutt, deer hunting editor and "Brow Tines and Backstrap" blogger, knows a fair bit about killing mature deer. He was raised up hunting the river bottoms of Kentucky. And he still hunts there—among other places—to this day.
Follow along as he shares his adventures, experiences and knowledge of the white-tailed deer.
