Peak Rut

General Information

Spent a week in stand sun up to sun down 11/6-11/12. Very slow. Literally no chasing, bucks could care less about grunts or bleats. The morning of 11/11 started to pick up a little, but was in high seventies that day. Saturday 11/12 was in middle 20's and it all changed. Saw 8 bucks that day chasing before 10 am. I sat till dark and saw 3 bucks chasing from 10 am to 4 pm and then the fire works started again around 4;30. Love was in the air. I heard a heck of a fight going on at around 5;30 but never saw the participants. Finally shot a bruiser 11 point Sunday 11/13 at 7;30 am cruising a doe bedding area. Patience paid off. It is on on Northern Indiana FINALLY!
