Monster Bucks: Ben McDonald's Giant Kansas Typical

Ben McDonald is a retired pitcher who's best known for getting down to business on the baseball field. But he’s also a serious bowhunter. In this episode of Monster Bucks, McDonald makes his annual trip to hunt with Perry Ross at Ross Trophy Outfitters in Ford, Kansas. And Ross puts him on a good one. Just before dark on the first evening, a giant typical stands up and starts easing toward McDonald's stand. Those tines would make any hunter swoon just a little. Watch and see if McDonald keeps it together.

Tactical Talk: McDonald is hunting the tail end of the pre-rut. That's one of the best times to kill a buck in its core area, before the rut makes his movements unpredictable.
