How to Take Food Plot Soil Samples

Do you conduct soil samples before planting your food plots? It's one of the easiest -- but most overlooked -- steps for most hunters. All food plots grow best at a particular pH level, typically around 6.5. A soil sample will tell you what kind and how much fertilizer needs to be added to your soil when you plant.
