Coyote Leaps Park Fence to Fight Pit Bull

Full video of the encounter shows the coyote and large dog squaring off

This video footage is proof that small pets aren't the only ones at risk from a coyote attack.

Keyanue McCallon was at Loma Verde Park in Chula Vista, California, on May 22 when an aggressive coyote jumped the chain-link fence and attacked his pit bull, which was much larger than the coyote.

McCallon filmed the encounter. In the footage you see the animals stare at each other for several seconds before the coyote becomes aggressive. When the coyote attempts to bite the dog, McCallon yells and manages to chase the coyote away.

He told ABC 10 News he's worried the coyote could attack again and should be removed.

"I'm an animal lover and anyone who knows me knows I'm an animal lover. But this particular coyote needs to be removed. I'm not suggesting it be eliminated. We need to capture him to relocate him to a more proper place. This is not the park for him,” McCallon said.

It's believed the same coyote attacked another person’s dog the day before.
