Dashcam Captures Deer Herd Jumping Over Car

Reportedly captured in Poland, the video was shared by a Michigan sheriff’s office as a reminder not to drive distracted

According to State Farm, there are about 1.5 million car collisions involving deer each year that kill approximately 200 Americans, cause more than 10,000 personal injuries, and result in $1 billion in vehicle damage. For this reason, it’s a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for deer whenever you’re on the road.

This video from KIRO 7 in Michigan shows how quickly things can happen. Shared by the Oakland County, Michigan, Sheriff’s Office, the incident was initially reported to have happened in Michigan. A quick view of the video, though, shows that the deer involved are definitely not whitetails. Though it’s difficult to get a sure ID on them, we’re thinking it’s most likely a herd of red deer — especially if the video was actually filmed in Poland, as reported by the Miami Herald.

Wherever it happened, it was a close call. In the video, you see the animals dashing out in front of the car. One deer jumps over the vehicle, and then a buck (or young stag, as they say) lands on the back windshield before running away.
