Ladies Love A Meat-Eating Man

By

Are any of you men having bad luck in the love department? Are the ladies shooting you down left and right? Well, next time you’re in the company of an attractive woman, make sure she sees you devouring a big piece of meat, and your luck just may change.

While writing my blog, Give a Manly Tip, Win Easton Arrows, last week, I stumbled across some interesting research. According to a study published a couple of months ago in the Journal of Consumer Research, men who eat meat are seen as more ‘manly’ and thus more attractive to females.

That’s right, if you enjoy meat with your meal, you may have more game than you think…or at least more than your male vegetarian counterparts.

As part of the study, a research team examined people’s words and association between certain foods and the way consumers rate the masculinity of things like meat versus milk or veggies. When the subjects discussed meat, they used more masculine words.  Additionally, the participants rated men who ate meat as more masculine than those who didn’t.

According to another British study titled, Meat, Morals and Masculinity, male meat-eaters are seen as more masculine than male vegetarians, even by female vegetarians.

Although non-meat eaters were viewed as being more virtuous, they were also seen as wimpy and less macho than those who enjoyed devouring animal flesh. According to one researcher, Dr. Steven J Heine, meat is seen a symbol of power, status and masculinity (all qualities that attract women). Through abstaining from meat, the vegetarian male is seen as more principled, but less manly.

So ladies, do you think these studies are accurate? Are you more attracted to meat-eating men than vegetarians?
