A 3-year-old girl is recovering after being attacked by a coyote on a beach in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It’s believed to be the same coyote that was filmed acting aggressively toward a woman on the beach last month.

According to Inside Edition, Elodie Lewis was stargazing on the beach with her family when the attack happened.

“We just heard a blood-curdling scream,” her mom Megan Lewis told Inside Edition. Elodie’s father picked her up, and they all ran to the car.

“It was stalking us the entire way up to the car. It was less than three feet away from us. I thought it was a dog at first, but then I saw it in the seagrass, and it was just staring at us,” Lewis said.

Through tears, Lewis said, “We’re aware of what it could have been.”

A park ranger shot and killed the coyote shortly after it attacked the girl. It tested negative for rabies.

Marcy Sterlis, who was shown being stalked by what is likely the same coyote in a viral video, says she tried to chase away the coyote before being rescued by boaters.
