The child received minor injuries and is getting shots for rabies prevention

A father had only turned his back on his 2-year-old daughter for a few seconds to get her toys out of the car when a coyote ran up and grabbed the girl and drug her face down onto the sidewalk.

Security video shows the coyote attacking the toddler. Her father, Ariel Eliyahuo, is then seen coming to her rescue.

Ariel had just arrived home from picking the child up from preschool when the attack occurred.

For a second, [Ariel] just turned inside the car and he just heard her screaming and he didn't see the coyote. He thought she fell, the girl's mother, Shira Eliyahuo, told ktla.com. So, he ran over and he saw the coyote.

In the footage, you see the coyote linger for a moment until Ariel throws a rock at it.

She has a lot of scratches on her left leg and one of them is really deep, Shira said of her child's injuries. We had to go to the ER. We had to get her rabies shots. The coyote just kind of dragged her so her face is also a little bit bruised.

As KTLA5 was reporting from the scene, a coyote suddenly appeared in front of the family's home. Ariel chased the coyote back into the bushes with a 2x4.

The family says they're tired of coyotes lurking around the neighborhood and hope the city will trap and remove them from their community before another attack like this happens.
