The Wisconsin family was fishing when they noticed the struggling bear swimming across the lake
A Wisconsin family was fishing in Marsh-Miller Lake when their focus switched from catching fish to rescuing a struggling bear.
Tricia Hurt says she and her family spotted the bear swimming across the lake at around 9 p.m. last Saturday with what looked like a bucket stuck on its head.
Tricia took out her phone and recorded the rescue. As you see in the footage, her son Brady maneuvers the boat next to the bear as her husband, Brian, tugs on the container, which doesn't come off the first time. Brady circles the boat back around so Brian can give it another try, and it works. The bear, which is estimated to be approximately a year old, can be seen swimming to shore free of the container.
"We saved our little bear, " Tricia said. "Swim happy."
Tricia posted the footage on Facebook, and it has since gone viral.
