An Ohio woman thought she was going to have to “throw down” with the mama deer to protect her infant
Moms of all species are hard-wired to respond to their infant’s cries. For one mother deer, that instinct was so strong that she came running when she heard the cries of a baby that wasn’t hers — a human baby.
Hanna Burton recently posted a video on TikTok that shows the moment a doe came running into her yard when it heard the cries of her 5-week-old baby, Charlie.
According to News 10, Burton and her son were enjoying time on their back deck in Ohio when her baby began to cry.
All of a sudden, a doe comes running out of the woods, obviously responding to the baby’s cries.
Burton then picks up her baby and exclaims, “Nope, nope, nope! This is my baby.” She then tells her son, “She thinks you’re her baby.”
Mother deer are very protective and are known to respond to high-pitched calls that resemble a fawn in distress.
The video, which Burton captioned, “When you almost have to throw down with a momma deer because your baby starts crying outside,” has been viewed more than 6 million times.
