Watch Family Rescue Dog from Mountain Lion

A boxer mix named Maeby is one lucky pup after escaping the claws of a hungry mountain lion last week with the help of her family.

The 3-year-old dog went outside the family home in Nederland, Colorado, when it ran into a mountain lion.

"The mountain lion jumped out and pounced on her," owner Charlie Allen told FOX 31 on Wednesday.

You can see in the home surveillance video that family members ran out of the house armed only with a shovel and a flashlight.

The mountain lion bit Maeby a couple of times before the dog escaped and ran back into the house.

Allen then flashed a flashlight at the lion, which slowly walked away.

The family took Maeby to the veterinarian, where she was bandaged up and is now fully recovered.

According to FOX 31, the mountain lion appears to be wearing a radio collar, and may have been spotted in the area since the confrontation at the Allen home.
