Watch Squirrel Leave Christmas Cookie for Homeowner

Even the squirrels are enjoying a bit of gift giving this holiday season. A home security camera captured footage of a squirrel leaving a frosted Christmas cookie on a ledge outside of the front door to a woman's home.

In the video, which was shared to TikTok under the handle southernupnorth, you see a woman returning home carrying a heavy bag. When she sets the bag down and goes to open the door, she discovers a festive cookie resting on a ledge near her door.

She looks puzzled. Then the video cuts back two hours earlier where we see a squirrel carrying the cookie up to the ledge and leaving it behind.

"Is he leaving us a gift for Christmas," the woman sharing the clip online wrote.

The video, which has been viewed millions of times, has prompted a number or comments.

One viewer declared, "THAT'S SQUIRREL SANTA,” and several others agreed.  

Another viewer wrote, "Like I tell my kids, Santa's helpers come in all forms," with a fellow believer commenting: "Welp, there are Christmas elves, now Christmas squirrels.... I'd leave him some pecans."
