Jacob and Goliath

Last Sunday, Mother's Day, Jacob Henry Smith tagged this 23-pound New Hampshire longbeard at 15 yards.

According to his dad David Smith: "The bird's wings touched the blind and it gobbled as it walked by us. The guide went to pieces. The six-year-old sealed the deal."

The trophy specs: an 11-inch beard, and 1 & 1/2-inch spurs, a true limbhanger.

In some ways it was Father's Day too.
